Although SCI-RNC acts and responds directly to specific political situations, the truth is that we have
a well-defined mission and that SCI-RNC is laser-focused on accomplishing that mission. The rest is
merely detail that relates to how we get from here to where we want and need to be.
The mission of SCI-RNC is to protect the freedom to hunt and to promote wildlife conservation
worldwide. The purposes of SCI-RNC are....
To advocate, preserve and protect the rights of all hunters.
To promote safe, legal and ethical hunting and related activities.
To advocate within the limits imposed by law and regulation.
To monitor, support, or otherwise take positions on local, national and international legislative,
executive, judicial or organizational endeavors that foster and support SCI’s-RNC's mission and
purposes.
To inform and educate the public concerning hunting and related activities.
SCI-RNC members help shape and promote the image of the hunter to the general public, through
their words and actions. In addition to practicing ethical hunting while in the field, SCI-RNC members
give back by participating in educational, civic, conservation, and humanitarian efforts across the
globe.
Never before in its history has SCI-RNC been in a better position to face and overcome obstacles
that may pop up. In fact, I will predict that SCI-RNC will gain ground long term.
As I remind everyone whenever possible, the future of both hunting and SCI-RNC hinges on four
pillars: Advocacy, Convention, Membership and Conservation.
We are still feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has upset hunting plans for most
members and it has caused havoc for SCI-RNC, as well. But it also has opened some doors for SCI-
RNC to be an even more influential member of the shooting sports industry. SCI-RNC is now
following through with grants from the very successful Share the Impact fundraising effort a few
months ago. Those grants go to outfitter organizations around the world and are part of SCI’s-RNC's
efforts to be a positive force in what has proven to be a negative situation for so many in the
industry. And SCI-RNC also has felt the sting of the pandemic. The SCI Convention and many
shows/ fairs have been cancelled the last year, but that doesn’t mean we’re twiddling our thumbs.
We are working right now to be present at the remaining shows/ fares in 2021 and 2022. We have
launched a multi-faceted recruitment effort to bring more hunters into the SCI-RNC family and to
welcome back other members who took a short breather. We are just now beginning to see some of
the results of these member ship efforts and we expect to be able to report good news on that front
as the new year develops.
Truly, we can be optimistic as the new year unfolds. But none of us can do it alone. We are all in it
together and what a heck of a team! I thank all members of SCI-RNC . I see a bright future for both
SCI-RNC and hunting. Together everyone wins.
